Bikes Bikes Bikes!
Since the untimely demise of the two bike rental camps on Playa, it has become more and more difficult for people traveling in without a vehicle or without space in their vehicle to bring a bike. Due to this, Rootpile has made an arrangement with a North Carolina “city bike” company to bring bikes to the Playa for our campers in need. We have shipped the bikes, and they will be available for your use on the Playa. The bikes are as perfect for the Playa as we could have hoped for, as they have fan belt drive instead of rusty chains, sealed hubs, average size tires, and three-speed gear ratios. We have to take a deposit in case the bikes are lost.
Rootpile will bring these bikes onto Playa, so you will be able to pick up your bike in camp.
While we will have bike locks, we strongly suggest you bring your own bike lock, as a backup. Lights are not included, so bring your own headlights and decorative lights. Since the bikes all look the same, please bring your own decorations to personalize your bike. The supply is limited, so if you need a bike, act quickly. Bikes will be available to pick up Saturday 8/26, as Build Week is nearing its end. $200 rental + $100 deposit. Deposit will be returned post-Burn, after the dust settles.
